Indo-Pak Showdown

Every war ends in peace (treaty). Nevertheless for many any war is a profitable business. Arms makers sell their weapons, many politicians gain public support, but the land gets destroyed, peace loving people will be massacred. When a country is almost in ruin, social and political situation is near to nowhere, may be like proletariat it has nothing to lose. But in a relatively prosperous country that India is, even a comfortable win will definitely bring endless sorrow to its people, stagnation in economy. With the prospect of a limited nuclear war both India and Pakistan should avoid this war, especially India should be more interested to bypass this critically hot phase diplomatically.

Way out

'USSR could have been reformed, there was no need to destroy it.The Communist Party of the Soviet Union should have transformed the bloc into a democratic entity rather than see it collapse.' Russian President Vladimir Putin.
At least there were a few other options to transform the USSR into something else. I think the leaders had to keep in mind the partition of India which took millions of lives and still taking away more lives than one could imagine. The separation of any country does not end in one day, it takes decades to get rid of the consequences. It is like after the atom bomb attack - kills lot at once and many more, afterward. But lust for power and money of many Party functionaries did what we see today.

Unfortunately, he so-called civilized world did not learn anything from that catastrophe and still playing the same game with other countries. And people of those countries also failed to see the consequences. In fact like the East India company in 1757 countries like the USA, UK are giving bribes to different groups and with their help bring instability not only in that country, but in the region in particular and in the world as a whole.
Is there any way out? Until now the civilized world taught us how to live, now it is our turn to cut their hunger for power and wealth.

শক্তি আছে বুদ্ধির কি দরকার?

পররাষ্ট্রনীতি কতোটা কঠিন একটা বিষয় তার একটা উদাহরণ দিতে গিয়ে তরুণ (Tarun Chakravorty) লিখেছে "ক্লিনটন রোডজ্‌ স্কলারশিপ নিয়ে অক্সফোর্ডে পড়তে এসেছিলেন। তিনি প্রেসিডেন্ট হবার পর এক সাক্ষ্যাৎকারে বলেছিলেন, 'আমি অক্সফোর্ড গিয়ে তিন মাসে পররাষ্ট্রনীতি তথা আন্তর্জাতিক সম্পর্ক-এর উপর ১০০টা বই পড়ে শেষ করেছিলাম।'"
ওর লেখা পরে আমার নীচের কথাগুলো মনে হলো

রাশিয়ায় একটা কথা আছে, এক মাথা ভালো, তবে দুই মাথা আরও ভালো (এই অর্থে যে দুজনে আলোচনা করে সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়া যায়)
ইদানিং জোক করে বলা হয়, এক (শুধু বা খালি অর্থে) মাথা ভালো, তবে তাতে একটু ঘিলু থাকলে আরও ভালো।
এই লেখাটা শুনে বলতে ইচ্ছে করছে, বই পড়া ভালো, তবে বই পড়ে তার অর্থ উপলব্ধি করা আরও ভালো।
ক্লিনটন বই পড়েছে ঠিকই তবে যুগোশ্লাভিয়ায় বোমা হামলা দেখে মনে হয়, পররাষ্ট্রনীতিটা খুব একটা রপ্ত করতে পারে নি।
রাশিয়ায় আরো বলে, শক্তি আছে বুদ্ধির কি দরকার?
আমেরিকান প্রেসিডেন্টরা বুদ্ধি থাকলেও শক্তিই ব্যবহার করে।

From Farabi to ISIS: The Virus of Faith is Indeed Real!

Interesting article, but in my view it is partially true. The virus of killing is inherent to human nature. Mankind is far older than religion, and instinct of killing others (those who are different for this or that reason). If not religion, some other issues will come. In the name of equality many were killed. The struggle for socialism took a lot of lives. Nazis did kill millions not only for their religious background. Today’s drive for democracy by Bush or Obama killed and is still killings thousands across the glove. Why? It is only because a group thinks them exclusive, better than the rest. I always tell my kids, you can add an apple and a banana. The result will always be an apple and a banana. Each has their specific identity and property. Unless we, especially so-called civilized world, understand this simple truth and refrain from imposing our way of live to others, it will happen forever. Some will cut throat, others will fire or bury you with democratic bombs. I don’t know if it matters how someone will be killed – by beheading or sitting on electric chair. These things matters for those who are left behind, but for those who were killed it is all the same. So we should talk about not only about virus of religion, but also about virus of democracy, supremacy etc.Civilization is also relative. What is good in one society, might not be that in another. Only respect to other well established visions and ways of life can partially decrease the heat.

পরমত-সহিষ্ণুতা

Tarun Chakravorty লিখেছে "সব ধর্ম এক- এ রকম সরলীকৃত মন্তব্য যাঁরা করেন তাঁরা ভুল করেন। সত্য হল, সব ধর্ম একই পরিমাণে পরমত-সহিষ্ণুতা শিখায় না।" ওটা পড়ে মনে পড়ে গেলো রাম কে আদালতে তলব করার ঘটনা - শুধু তাই নয়, কেন হিন্দু ধর্মে বেদতাদের উপর এক হাত নেয়া যায় তার কথা|
হয়তো একটু সরলীকরণ হবে, তবুও লিখছি| রাম বা কৃষ্ণকে ভগবান ভাবা হয় | রাবন রামের সাথে লড়েছে, কংস কৃষ্ণকে হত্যা করতে চেয়েছে| অসুরেরা বার বার দুর্গার সাথে লড়েছে, দেবতারা তো হেরেই গেছে কত বার| এগুলো কি শেখায় জানো ? হ্যা, ভগবানের সাথেও যুদ্ধ করা যায়, তর্ক করা যায়, এমন কি শেষ পর্যন্ত মরে গেলেও| আরো একটা কথা, ভগবানের হাতে মরলে যত পাপীই হোকনা কেন, স্বর্গ লাভ হয়| এগুলো গল্প, তবে গল্পের নীতি তো ওখানেই - বিশ্বাস করার বা না করার অধিকার| শয়তানের কিন্তু সে অধিকার ছিলো না, একটা অপরাধেই চিরতরে নির্বাসন| সেদিক থেকে মহিসাষুর ভাগ্যবান, তার লড়াই করে প্রমান করার অধিকার ছিলো তার বিশ্বাসকে |

আস্ত গাধা

কয়েক দিন আগে ফেসবুক দেখছিলাম, হঠাতই এক বন্ধুর পোস্ট এলো টাইম লাইনে | নাদুস-নুদুস এক গরুর ছবি | পাশে গুলিয়া বসে ছিলো, জানতে চাইলো এটা কি আবার? (লোকজনতো আর হরহামেশাই গরুর ছবি দেয় না)| বললাম সামনে কোরবানীর ঈদ, গরু কিনেছে, কোরবানী দেবে, তার আগে সবাইকে দেখাচ্ছে |
একটু থেমে গুলিয়া বললো "তোর বন্ধুকে লেখ যে ও আস্ত একটা গাধা|"
"Пиши своему другу, что он круглый дурак"

"ও নয়, আমিই আস্ত গাধা, নইলে কি আর বন্ধুত্ব করি?"

সংখ্যালঘুদের রাজনীতি ও সাম্প্রদায়িকতা

লেখাটা ছিল ছিল এক বছর আগের "ন্যায্য অধিকার না পেলে সংখ্যালঘুরা নতুন রাজনৈতিক ধারা সৃষ্টি করবে" প্রতিবেদনের প্রেক্ষিতে, তবে এতো দিনে কোনো পরিবর্তন হয়নি, তাই আবারো পোস্ট করছি

এটা যতটা না সাম্প্রদায়িক রাজনীতি, তার চেয়ে বেশি অস্তিত্ব রক্ষার রাজনীতি। রাজনীতি সাম্প্রদায়িক যখন তা অন্য সম্প্রদায়ের মৌলিক অধিকারকে বঞ্চিত করার জন্য হয়, তবে সেটা যদি কোনো সম্প্রদায়ের সাংবিধানিক অধিকার আদায়ের জন্য হয় - তাকে শধু মাত্র কোনো সম্প্রদায়ের প্রতিনিধিত্ব করছে বলে সাম্প্রদায়িক বলাটা ঠিক হবে না। মূলধারার রাজনীতি আর তাদের নেতারা যদি সংখ্যা লঘুদের (তা সে ধর্মীয় হোক আর মুক্ত চিন্তার হোক) জীবন অতিষ্ট করে না তুলত তাহলে এরকম একটা রাজনৈতিক ধারার দরকার ছিল না। আজ যদি সংখ্যা লঘু সম্প্রদায় এই অরাজকতার প্রতিবাদ না করে খুব শিগগির এদেশে আইন করে সংখ্যা লঘু হয়ে জন্ম নেয়াটা অপরাধ বলে ঘোষনা করা হলেও অবাক হবার কিছু থাকবে না।

 

কোরবানী

অবস্থা দেখে মনে হয় আমাদের বন্ধুরা আমাদের সবাইকে বিবেকবর্জিত মনে করে, যারা নির্বিকারে কোন এক সুন্দর প্রাণীর ছবি দেখতে পারে আর মন খুলে খুশি হতে পারে এই ভেবে যে, সেই প্রিয় বন্ধু দুদিন পরে হাসিমুখে এই প্রাণীটিকে হত্যা করবে। না না, কোরবানী নিয়ে আমার কোনো সমস্যা নেই।  ছোট বেলায় ঈদের দিনে বন্ধুদের সাথে সারাদিন আনন্দ করা, মার্বেল খেলা - সে কি ভোলা যায়? তবে তখন এতো ছবি দিয়ে লোক দেখিয়ে কোরবানী হতো না।  আজ এক বন্ধুর (কমরেডের) টাইম লাইনে সুন্দর এক ষাঁড়ের ছবি দেখলাম সাথে তার দাম। তারা সুন্দরবনের বাঘের জন্য জীবন বাজী  রাখে, অথচ ছবি দিয়ে ঘোষণা করে নির্বিকারে নিরীহ প্রাণী হত্যা করে - কেমন যেন বেমানান মনে হয়। ঈদের আনন্দ বুঝি, কিন্তু হত্যার? আসুন না, আনন্দটা আমরা প্রকাশ্যেই করি, আর হত্যাটা গোপনে।

ClinTrump

Most of my friends living in the USA are allergically anti-Trump. Many of them blindly pro Hillary. Being an outsider I have almost nothing to do with the coming US election. I know, independent to who will be the president of America, nothing will change overnight. But the way, the political establishment of America, both Democratic and Republican, is alarming. It is not Hillary, who competes against Trump, but the whole American establishment is trying to get rid of Trump. Here is a rare chance for American People to stand up against the mighty establishment and force them change their policies in future.

অপেক্ষা

ভোটের সময় সংখ্যালঘুদের শাঁখের করাতে কাটা পড়তে হয় কেননা এক দল ভোট দিতে গেলে মারে, আরেক দল ভোট দিতে না গেলে। এখন দেশে মূর্তি ভাঙ্গার প্রতিযোগিতা চলছে, কয়েক দিন আগে হলে তো অলিম্পিকে জুড়ে দেয়া যেত। বসে আছি কবে পাল্টা দল নামবে মাঠে, পূজা না করার অপরাধে কত প্রাণ হবে বলিদান।
